Tekapo Moonlightby *CainPascoe

Got to Lake Tekapo a bit later than expected and just missed out on quite a nice sunset

Luckily theres light until 9pm in NZ so i took a little wander around the lake near 'the church of the good shepherd'. The moon was out which was a bonus

Little bit of an edit... i took a shot of the moon(at the time and at 200mm) intending to do this originally but never liked it. Opinions?

This is simply amazing. You have a great composition here and I will tell you why. The rocks, which I'm guessing at might be granite perhaps limestone, are rough, cutting edge raw material. In comparison to the evening sky, which is soft...almost tender, give this image perfect harmony. It's reality clashing with something out of this world. You can touch them, but the sky seems to be off limits. Not many people can capture nature's harmony and you have. This also proves a valid point I would like to add, that beauty as ethereal as this can be found in our world.

Well mate, I think that this shot is truly a wonderful one. The scenery is amazing. The mountains with their snowy tops at the end of the lakes give the impression of being in the wild. The clouds are just perfectly blurred. I think that real blurred cloud would make to much attention go to the sky. Now the clouds are nicely blurred so that the hard-edges aren't there anymore. It are just nice and soft clouds. I have some thoughts about the foreground though. I think that it is very dominant but it isn't really interesting because it looks kinda plain white. My eyes are constantly attracted by the mountains on the background, but I feel like the big massive white rock is distracting me from it. Maybe this would have worked better if you had used a little lower point of view or you would have moved more forward and included just a little of the rocks on the foreground. It could have made this shot a little more cliché perhaps, but I think it would bring more balance in the image.

But nonetheless it's still a wonderful shot. I would love to have it above my bed

. But maybe, after being a few weeks above my bed I would get my siccors and cut of the lower part. (this is a suggestion: try to crop it

)

since you ask... the moon seems a bit too big, was that the original size? i like the composition and the photo, but the moon that big... you didn't over edit it, but it somehow looks funny... maybe because we are too used to see it blown out? i don't know... maybe if it was a bit smaller... i relate to your feeling about it so much, it happens to me all the time

In my opinion, the fact that you shot the moon separately and then merged it with this one is quite ingenious. it definitely adds another dimension to this photo.
