hmm my BW nd1000 doesn't have that much of a cast. Almost none actually.

Really? well it is a little emphasised here from the lighting conditions but there is always a noticeable warm cast

I usually dont get one. I think i got very lucky with this one. I have seen some with a very noticeable cast like the one you showed.

Besides color cast, it also adds a lot of vignetting which tricked the exposure here: you've corrected the exposure for the corners which resulted in overexposed center. (It's just a thought, I know it's just a test)

Good point. Definitely something to take into account, would be better making an adjustment layer and just masking the edges

Or just shoot in raw, expose the center correctly and lift the corners with vignetting correction. Works great for IR hotspots too.

I don't know whether to love it or hate it

It's brilliant for sunrise/sunset, but not so great in the middle of the day.
